Kiwanis Hoedown:

In the words of Garth Brooks we “Ain’t goin down till the sun comes up”.

This Saturday night’s the night. Burl’s Creek is the place.  Buckles boots and jeans are the dress code.  See ya’all there!!!!  BTW, anyone seen Ben since last year’s Hoedown????

Today’s Guest Speaker:

Megan Law, Fund Development Coordinator if the Simcoe Chapter for Autism was our guest speaker today.  Megan has studied both human resources and woodworking during her post-secondary years.  She joined in the effort to support children with autism strictly as a volunteer.  She spoke about the challenges faced by a family that is dealing with a child with autism.  She also talked about the many activities organized by the SCFA to help these individuals and families to cope with this condition.  These include peer groups, cooking classes and ski programs along with many others.  The plan going forward is more community outreach as funding for autism seems to be off the radar for all levels of government.   Fascinating presentation today Megan, thank you for being with us.
Next Week:

Not sure what’s going on next week other than a room full of left over Kiwanians but as always, you won’t want to miss it. Have a great week everyone and we’ll see you Saturday!!!!
Thought for the Day:

“Let your dreams stay big and your worries stay small”.
