Oh Canada:

We didn’t do Oh Canada today so all I can say about it is, we’ve done worse!!!!  Nicely done Gang!!!
Today’s Meeting:

Today we were hosted by Nicole Kraftscik and Mark Riczu of the OSMH Foundation. We were served a fantastic lunch prepared by Melanie Robinson, owner of the Eclectic Café in downtown Orillia.  On the menu was a squash, apple and curry soup (I had seconds), a mixed green, strawberry and nut salad with what looked like a balsamic vinaigrette and what I can only describe as designer club house and grilled cheese sandwiches.  Wow, what a lunch!!!  Drop in on Melanie’s little café down by the library but check her hours of operation first.  She’s just getting it up and running.

After lunch we had a tour of the new pediatric centre which formerly which many of us will remember as Harvie 2. The entire floor is being renovated into a new, child friendly facility that will house the bulk of children’s services.  We had a peak at the newly expanded neo-natal intensive care unit (and saw some really cute babies).  We finished off with a look at the existing Kiwanis Children’s Health Centre.  Once the renovations are completed this building will likely be repurposed.  Over the years Kiwanis has donated $421,000.00 to the hospital and it’s great to be appreciated by the Foundation Office in this way.  Thanks to Nicole, Mark and Melanie for hosting us today.

KCSV Fundraising Evening

Mark Tuesday May 15th off on your calendars Gang.  We’re heading back over to Eastside Mario’s for dinner.  We did this last year and it was a great success.  All you need to do is show up and eat and we’re all pretty good at that!!!  Let’s get Eastside’s full of Kiwanis and families that night.  Proceeds go to the KCSV.
Kiwanis Hoedown:

June 16th is the date and Burl’s Creek is the place.  Be sure to wear adjustable belt buckles and perhaps some elastic waist lines.  You need some expansion room for all that beer!!!
Next Week:

We’re all back at Theo’s next week, at least you all will be. I’ll be down in Anna Maria FLA doing my Jerry Wink impersonation.  Not sure who the guest speaker is but as always, you won’t want to miss it!!!

Thought for the Day:
