Oh Canada:

Better tempo and great volume thanks to “The Village People”!!!

The Blessing:

Noel Sterne delivered an eloquent blessing as always – thanks Noel.

Happy Loonies:

Jerry Wink – the well-known socialite, lifestylist and long-time Kiwanian is happy to be back from a summer of travel, boating and grandparenting. Great having you back Jerry, are your cards in?????

Korine is happy that father Jack was with us today. This marks the beginning of my 15th year in Kiwanis and I think that’s the third time I’ve seen Jack at a meeting.  How about a happy loonie for Jack’s very kind donations to the general fund all these years!!!!!

Dave North (me) is stoked about being the father of a professional hockey player. The Alliston Hornets have signed Son Andrew and not only are they buying his equipment (whew) but they are giving him gas (beer) money!!!!  Now that’s something different!!!

Bob Wink’s kids Rowan and Cedar won silver and bronze respectively at the Centurion bike race this past weekend. Congrats to you both and those are really cool names!!!!

Steph is happy that this was her last meeting as Da Prez. We’re happy too Steph – really.
Peter is head over heels about hosting this month’s Business After Five for the Chamber of Commerce. How about we all show up for a cold one compliments of the Head Start gang!!!!

Special Auction Update:

This just in…. The annual “After the auction Let the Clutch Out Hootenanny” will be held in the Sam Brown Room at Kelsey’s.  We’ve got it reserved from 5:00 pm until they kick us out – hopefully we make it past seven.  But first, we need cards, lots of cards.  For those on the committee don’t forget about the weekly Tuesday meeting at 4:30 at Johnnie Mayo’s office.

Kiwanis Children Safety Village – Mike Bunn:

We need peeps!!! Check out the sign-up genius and see if you can help out.
Today’s Guest Speaker:

Our very own Korine Keyzer, committee chair of the Kiwanis Children’s Safety Village, was our guest speaker today. Korine brought the club up to speed on what’s been going on with the KCSV these days.  She indicated that they are in good shape financially however the village needs a major refurbishment.  Some of the items include a new system of floor mats as well as a new trailer.  Korine talked about the great working partnership the KCSV has developed with manufacturer Peg Perego.  She also spoke of a new car that was donated by them to the village and that they are currently looking for a sponsor for that car.

After her update, Korine presented recognition awards to committee members Gerry Dwyer, Sandi Cobbe and Rick Bates. What can we say, awesome job Korine!!!!!

Next Week:

Speaking of awards, the hardware will be handed out next Thursday Sept 28th as Past President Ben Cole performs his final duty of office when he will host President’s Night.  At the time of this writing we have a record 72 confirmed as we pay tribute President Steph and her Kiwanis year that can only be described as outstanding.  See you all at Hawk Ridge.  The bar opens at 6:00 and if we were smart it would close at 6:15.   Please note that there will be no regular meeting at Theo’s next week.  That’s all for now, have a great week everyone.

Thought for the Day:
