Today’s Meeting:

Today was our annual 4H awards banquet at Hawkridge.  After the national anthem, President Ben offered the traditional 4H blessing – nice job Ben.   Longtime 4H leaders Kevin Moore, Dave Doyle and our own John Mayo were on hand today to hand out the awards – good job guys.  As always, Kiwanis members were seated amongst the all the guests today.  We continued our tradition of astounding the 4H club with our uncanny lack of any sort of agricultural knowledge whatsoever – keep up the good work Gang!!!

Last Week:

There was no regular meeting last week.  Instead, we held our annual cosmic glow in the dark bowling Christmas party on Sunday Dec 6th at Orillia Bowl.  Between Kiwanis, kids of Kiwanis and grandkids of Kiwanis we had close to 50 out for the event.  Bowling, pizza, cake and a visit from a rather svelt looking Santa were all on the agenda.  I had the privilege of sharing a lane with bowling greats Mike “Pin Head” Bunn and Johnnie “Twinkle Toes” Mayo.   Rolling balls with these legends of the lanes was like lacing up with Orr and Gretzky!!!!   Thanks to pres Ben and pres elect Steph for putting this together – great job on a great event.

Auction Debrief

The auction committee met on Wed. Dec 9th for a debriefing and an update.  We have a preliminary net total and while I could tell you, due to security clearance etc, I would have to kill you.  Matt Dixon will be on hand at the meeting on Dec 21st to deliver the results and announce the winner of the 50/50 draw.  You don’t want to miss it.

Great News!!!!

Steve Van Kessel and Peter Head have stepped forward and will oversee the auction committee for 2016.  Although we’re still wrapping up for this year the wheels are already in motion for next year – awesome Guys!!!!

Christmas Kettles:

Kiwanis was out in full force the last couple of Fridays ringing the bells at Zhers, Canadian Tire and Walmart.  Thank to everyone who helped out this year!!!   I ran into Noel Sterne who was hard at it at Zhers today putting together the Salvation Army Christmas hampers.  He had to send his regrets for the 4H banquet today.  Thanks for all your hard work Noel

Next Week:

We’re back at Theo’s next week for the last formal club meeting of 2015.  Our own Steph Worthington will have the podium where she will recount the incredible medical journey of Mason Anderson

That’s all for now everyone.  Have a great week.

Thought for the day – “Just shine your light.  It will be seen where it’s most needed”.
